A man has been jailed for 14 years for his role in the 'horrific' ordeal of two teenage girls being trafficked via London to work as prostitutes in mainland Europe.

Saving Nigeria, Are Nigerians ready?

I once wrote on my blog encouraging true patriots of Nigeria, not to weep for Nigeria, their country, and indeed Nigerians at the lower rung of the society, who are bearing the brunt of all the ills that have befallen the potentially great country. That Giant of Africa that has become a symbol of how-not-to-be-a-giant.
That conclusion I reached emanated from my understanding of the difficulty of getting an oppressed people to free themselves from the shackles of those holding them hostage. For as we have come to know – the unearned suffering has now become fashionable to the sufferers! And it is all part of the bargain and plan of the oppressors. Not that I do not believe that Nigeria and indeed Nigerians can be saved, far from it. I do believe that Nigeria and Nigerians can be saved, but this is not going to be a child’s play. It is going to be a journey far longer and frustrating than the biblical wilderness voyage of the Israelites. The adventure of salvaging Nigeria and saving Nigerians is going to be more tortuous than the struggle for economic development, not just growth in GDP as we have seen in much of the Latin America, Southeast Asia or indeed the rest of the world that have raised

My boyfriend is the father of my baby not you

A major controversy is currently threatening the peace of Alagbado, a suburb of Lagos. A man, Akeem Amodu, and his wife, Awawu Oluyide, are at daggers’ drawn over who the true father of their one-month-old baby girl is. The baby was christened on February 17 but the ceremony wasn’t held in Amodu’s house. Before the date, Awawu had packed her belongings and relocated to the home of her boyfriend with her baby. She claimed her husband was not the true dad of the baby, insisting that she had just returned the baby to the authentic father. But Amodu would have none of that. He is insisting that the baby girl is his daughter.

10 Dangerous Mistakes Men Make With Women

1.) Giving A Woman Too Much Power.
Guys usually get into trouble when they allow a woman to have too much (if not all) control in a relationship. She decides when you go out, when you have sex, and which friends you can keep. She may even decide (not suggest) what color of clothes you wear to a party.
Relinquishing a majority of control is a classic example of a man believing he doesn’t deserve to be with a certain type of woman, or a man who feels too weak that he cannot make decisions on his own. If you’re a good man and deserve a good woman, you deserve a good relationship. Swinging the power meter closer to a 50-50 deal would be more beneficial for you. An even platform feels a whole lot better than a 80-20 deal, and you can’t afford to be on the 20 end of the spectrum.
IMPORTANT: Women are not called the weaker sex because their bones are not strong. It is because they have a lot of difficulty resisting evil. When you give a woman too much power, you will be disrespected mercilessly.

Since Teebillz and Tiwa got engaged, after denying over and over again that they were in a relationship, new gist sprung up that Teebillz already had two kids from a woman based abroad, with pictures to prove it.
Well, here’s what Teebillz has to say about his love children rumour:
“I wonder why some jobless people want to destroy my relationship. Since I proposed to Tiwa, these sets of destroyers have been on my neck. Without me granting them interviews, they fabricate all kind of lies about our union. Some would even go to the extent of quoting me, even when they never got to talk to me. It’s all a lie. I have never been married and I don’t know why and where they got the pictures from. Rumour mongers and bloggers especially, are beginning to show how inexperienced they are on this job. I wonder if this people have any good thing doing.”

Northerners own 83% oil blocks – Senator, Reveals oil blocks and their owners

The war of words over the new Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) got messier in the Senate yesterday when southern Senators accused the North of dominating oil bloc allocations. For good measure, the latter is asking President Goodluck Jonathan to revoke and re-award the oil blocs, marginal fields and prospection licences in line with the principles of federal character. It was on the second of the three-day debate on the bill.
Chairman of the Senate Rules and Business Committee, Ita Enang, led the verbal war when he said 83 per cent of oil bloc allocations are presently held by northerners. Northern Senators drew the first blood on Tuesday during the first day of debate on the PIB in the Senate when the zone accused the South of frittering away over N11 trillion revenue in over 13 years. But the South replied yesterday, saying that the North dominates the oil industry with over 80 per cent ownership. Enang listed the alleged 11 big players in the oil industry.

Jonathan: The betrayal of a government-Adekoya Boladale

Above all odds we set out again. Inspite of the bloodshed, we remain stronger. Our blood on the arena, our flesh on the polls. We are not discouraged, for this change we must make. Let our story be told, let our tales be remembered, for this clarion call is greater than our lives’

Those were my exact words two years ago, written on one of the midnight journeys to the village of Uguawalele, in far away Sokoto State Nigeria. My story seems unclear; you may not understand my tales but give me some minutes and follow me to the beginning, where it all started.
On October 2010, my colleagues and I were called upon to obey the usual clarion call. This is a sacred duty of every Nigerian graduate towards the integration of the country’s heterogeneous inhabitants. But this time the assignment was different. Our country was passing through a perilous time in its history; our nascent democracy was entering the stage of maturity which historically seems to be the moment things go wrong. Secondly, disunity was foaming up amidst the various ethnic groups on sectional candidacy that seems to dominate the political parties, in the real light it was the South against the North. Above all, for the first time in the history of our nation the electoral commission was posed to conduct a free and fair election and we seems to be the only reasonable choice.
Our task was simple, register voters and conduct the general election. The assignment was easy but technical, fun but with high risk. Without hesitation we picked up our bags and never looked back. We were made to believe our decision is the most humble thing to do and paying

Spotted Lies Nigeria Celebrities Have Told Their Fans

To these showbiz stars, speaking from both sides of their mouth is a thing of joy and pride. Over time, these entertainers have publicly lied and deceived the media, their fans and the world at large, only to be found eating back their words and burying their heads in shame, especially when the truth surfaces and becomes unassailable.
The case of busty crossover actress, Foluke Daramola is not just one among many others, but also a clue to how our screen idols blatantly betray our trust in them.
For instance, many months after denying her romantic affair with Kayode Salako, Daramola finally tied the knot with same man, to the consternation of many.
However, while some have had to lie in order to save a situation, others have proved to be congenital liars who have constantly cajoled the public with inveterate lies.
In this authentic list, Entertainment Express showcases ten top entertainers and the many shocking lies they boldly told the public through the media. The list is arranged based on the gravity of the lies.

'I saw Boko Haram kill my husband, snatch my kids'

IT was a heart-rending session yesterday in Abuja.
Many were in tears as victims of the Boko Haram sect relived how their loved ones were killed, leaving them with shattered lives.
It was at an event where funds were raised to support survivors of the fundamentalists’ bloodletting.
In a shaky and emotional voice, Mrs Deborah Shettima from Borno State recounted how Boko Haram insurgents killed her husband in her presence, snatched away her two children and returned a few days later to kill her only surviving child. All she has left are photographs of her loved ones, which she displayed.
Pastor Serana Chinda of the All Saints Protestant Church, Hauran Wanki, Barracks in Kano spoke of how 17 members of his congregation were killed for refusing to divorce Jesus Christ.

A 42-year-old father, Mr. Edet Etok-Akpan, is currently being quizzed at the headquarters of the Cross River State Police Command in Calabar for torturing his six-year-old daughter, Edidiong, as a result of a church prophetess’ pronouncement that the girl was a witch.
Edidiong was beaten by her father and locked up in a room with her hands, mouth and face bound for four days before she was rescued by neighbours.
It was learnt that Etok-Akpan started beating her on February 19 after an unidentified prophetess in their church told him that Edidiong was the witch responsible for the stagnancy in his life.
Narrating her ordeal to PUNCH Metro on Monday, Edidiong said after the beatings which lasted for some days, her father on February 21 tied her hands with a cord and bound her mouth with a piece of cloth.
She said, “He locked me in the inner room of our house and he never gave me food and never allowed me to go to school.”
